ClimEmpower: User Driven Climate Applications Empowering Regional Resilience

Abstract

Even though information about climate change has increasingly become more available, it is difficult to gather concise information, and science-based adaptation and mitigation options. The aim of the three-year multidisciplinary and multinational project CLIMEMPOWER: USER DRIVEN CLIMATE APPLICATIONS EMPOWERING REGIONAL RESILIENCE (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-01, starting date September 1, 2023) is to empower regions with high climate change vulnerability and low coping capacity. The coordinator of the Project is the Austrian Institute of Technology and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at Zagreb University (FER) is one of the partners. The implementation of the Project encompasses improving understanding of climate change hazards and risks in vulnerable regions, providing them with information on resilient development pathways, and supporting knowledge-based planning and development, all by providing them with relevant data, knowledge, and user-defined and user-friendly decision support applications. FER will provide support for the data analysis and information dissemination, as well as create educational materials and interactive tools aimed at end-users and the general public. Furthermore, the Faculty will organize workshops and liaise with institutions that can either provide pertinent information or that can benefit from the data gathered by this project. The Project overview will be presented in the contribution: its partners, regions and objectives, as well as expected outcomes.

Danas informacije o klimatskim promjenama postaju sve dostupnije, no teško je prikupiti sažete informacije i znanstveno utemeljene mogućnosti prilagodbe i ublažavanja. FER će osigurati podršku analizi podataka i diseminaciji informacija te izraditi edukativne materijale i interaktivne alate namijenjene krajnjim korisnicima i široj javnosti.
