Spatio-Temporal Trend of Gender Disparity in Literacy Rate Using Cartographical Tool with special Reference of Hardoi District (U.P.)

Abstract

Abstract The gender disparity in literacy rate is a major concern in the contemporary world, especially in India. GDLR comes in existence when there are systematic differences in schooling level between men and women. Attainment of Universal Primary Education is one of the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations to be achieved by the Year 2015. The keep this point in view, an attempt is made to study the gender gap in literacy for the region. This paper seeks 1- To analyses the spatial variation in literacy of men & women in Hardoi district and investigate the growth of gender wise literacy status in Hardoi. 2- To find out the Spatio-temporal trend and hierarchy of gender Literacy gap in a Local community of study area.The present research work is entirely based on secondary data, collected from different sources i.e., census of India, different books and published articles. Different statistical techniques like Excel, SPSS are used for the analysis and manipulation of data in the present work.The present research works it can be concluded that there are certain differences in male and female literacy rates across the district is continuously improving in the total literacy rate which reflects the reduction of gender disparity in literacy.
