Abstract

El libro que presentamos constituye la continuación de las investigaciones desarrolladas en los últimos años por un nutrido grupo de académicos y profesionales pertenecientes a la Red Temática INGEURSUR: Ingenieros y modernización en la Europa del sur (siglos XVIII-XX) de la Universidad de Málaga, financiada por su financiada por el Vicerrectorado de Investigación y Transferencia. Los miembros de la red proceden de tres ámbitos de conocimiento esenciales: la Historia, la Economía y, por supuesto, la Ingeniería. Todos ellos han configurado un equipo de investigación multidisciplinar que, desde la perspectiva de la Historia Política, Económica y Social, así como la Historia del Arte y la Historia de la Ciencia y la Técnica, se proponen un objetivo esencial: subrayar el papel de los ingenieros en el despegue económico de la Europa meridional en el contexto de la Primera y la Segunda Revolución Industrial, desde mediado el siglo XVIII hasta el tránsito al siglo XX.
