
2.2.7 Neophaeothecales (Dothideomycetes, Ascomycota) Phaeotheca salicorniae was introduced by Crous et al. (2016) and transferred to the new genus Neophaeotheca by Abdollahzadeh et al. (2020) and the type for the new family and order Neophaeothecaceae, and Neophaeothecales, respectively. Neophaeotheca salicorniae and Neophaeotheca triangularis are black yeasts reported from hypersaline waters in salterns (Chung et al. 2019; Gunde-Cimerman et al. 2000).
