Starting from the analysis of Gustavo Dall'Ara's work (1865-1923) and considering the effects it has on the observer, one perceives the repetition of elements associated with the historical context in which the artist was immersed. Thus, we delve into the proposition that the unconscious is political, while also contemplating paintings as forms of anchoring the subject based on contributions from Psychoanalysis in the field of Visual Arts. We trace a path of investigation into recurring elements that persist today, announcing the contrasting class conflict in the Rio de Janeiro landscape, once the theme of Dall'Ara's paintings.
