Abstract

Nos primeiros anos do século XVII, e depois de dilatado e complexo processo decisório, o cabido da Catedral de Coimbra promoveu um importante projecto editorial: novos livros de cantochão para a Sé que (pelo menos no plano das intenções programáticas) estivessem em conformidade com as determinações rituais pós-tridentinas. Até ao momento foi possível identificar vinte e um volumes, praticamente desconhecidos da comunidade académica. O presente artigo pretende dar a conhecer um pouco deste acervo. Se, por um lado, estes livros de coro, pela amplitude do seu conjunto, constituem desde logo um testemunho assaz relevante das práticas de cantochão tardio em Portugal, designadamente nas opções reformistas associadas ao movimento humanista, por outro lado, eles conservam segmentos de repertório litúrgico-musical específico a merecer investigação aprofundada.
