Computerspiele als Darstellungsmedium für immaterielles Kulturerbe: Theoretische Überlegungen

Abstract

In diesem aktuellen Forschungsprojekt wird die Eignung von Computerspielen als Archiv oder Präsentationsmedium für immaterielles Kulturerbe (IKE), also der gelebten Manifestation von Kultur einer Gemeinschaft, untersucht. Die Arbeit legt theoretische Überlegungen zur Eignung von Videospielen für diese Aufgabe dar und betont die enge Verwandtschaft zwischen Digital Humanities und Game Studies. Dabei werden drei verschiedene Aspekte von Computerspielen beleuchtet und anhand derer die Eignung argumentiert: Multimodalität und Prozeduralität, Kontext und Materialität sowie Körperlichkeit und Körperbewegung. Diese Überlegungen, unterfüttert mit einem Beispiel, zeigen das Potenzial von Computerspielen für den Schutz von IKE auf und regen zur weiteren Erforschung und Umsetzung in Zusammenarbeit mit den Gemeinschaften und Kulturträgern an.
