This package provides data and code to replicate analyses in Katovich, Erik, Winning and losing the resource lottery: Governance after uncertain oil discoveries, Journal of Development Economics, Vol. 166 (2024) DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jdeveco.2023.103204 All code (cleaning, processing, and analysis), as well as a Master README file, can be found in Replication_Package.7z Links and references to access raw public datasets online are reported in Replication_DataSources.pdf. All datasets required to execute intermediate processing steps and final analysis steps are included in Data Directory.7z. The Data Directory also contains the complete file structure into which raw datasets may be saved. Complete raw datasets are not shared directly due to repository constraints on data size and number of files, as well as use-restrictions on re-posting some of the data. Personal information about political candidates (CPF, name, and campaign name) have been omitted from the updated version to ensure compliance with GDPR.
