Abstract

Fig. 1. HPLC chromatograms of indole alkaloids extracted from V. minor leaves. HPLC chromatograms of TIAs, present in the various extracts from V. minor leaves, are displayed. To obtain the so-called alleged chloroform leaf surface extract, V. minor leaves had been dipped for 60 s in chloroform. The total leaf extract was obtained by the extraction of leaves using water which was adjusted by adding acetic acid to pH 5.5. The aqueous leaf surface extract was obtained by rinsing the leaves for 2 days in the slightly acidic medium (pH 5.5). To ensure direct comparison, the final volumes of all extracts had been adjusted to 1 mL. Three different channels of the PDA detector are displayed in red (330 nm), green (280 nm), and blue (254 nm)..
