
Umbrina coroides Cuvier 1830 Extant specimens: MCUC ZOO.0000033 (Fig. 60). Classification on the specimen: “P. Th. Labrus ”. Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): None. Comments: This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. While there are 112 herborized specimens of Labrus in the Ajuda’s inventory, no name that would fit this species could be found in the transference documents to the Lisbon Academy of Sciences or the University of Coimbra.Also, no description fitting this species is found in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis manuscript. Umbrina coroides occurs in the Western Atlantic from Florida (USA) to Santa Catarina (Brazil) (Menezes & Figueiredo 1980). Order Spariformes
