New record, based on confirmed records from an observer program on shark longline vessels in May and June 2014 (NFA and CSIRO, unpublished data); tissue samples and vertebrae retained. A specimen photographed in Kavieng District by D. Borcherds. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Circumglobal in warm temperate and tropical seas. Pelagic in inshore and offshore waters. Marine.
