Abstract

Introducción: las infecciones en las vías urinarias que presentan las gestantes constituyen una de las principales causas de morbilidad en el área de obstetricia. Objetivo: caracterizar los conocimientos del personal de enfermería sobre las infecciones de vías urinarias en ginecología. Método: estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal durante 2022 en el personal de enfermería en el Hospital General Ambato, perteneciente al Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social. La muestra estuvo constituida por 8 licenciados en enfermería, trabajando con la totalidad. Se empleó estadística descriptiva. Resultados: el 50 % de las encestadas presentaron edades entre 30 y 35 años, mientras que el 25 % fueron menores de 30 y el 25 % fueron mayores de 35 años. El 100 % presentó 5 años o más de experiencia y fueron féminas, y el 25 % presentó estudios de superación profesional. El 100 % de las encuestadas refirieron a la vaginitis y cervicitis como principales causas de infecciones de vías urinarias. Las enfermeras refirieron como principales microorganismos a la E. coli (100 %), klebsiellas (75 %) y pseudomonas (25 %). Sobre la prevención, refirieron la elección adecuada de un antibiótico (75 %), el consumo de abundante agua (50 %), y correctos hábitos higiénico-sanitarios (25 %). Conclusiones: las enfermeras conocen las principales causas, microorganismos y las medidas aplicables en las infecciones de vías urinarias en ginecología.
