
Salpichlaena volubilis (Kaulf.) J.Sm. subsp. amazonica G.G.Cárdenas & Tuomisto, Blumea 64(1): 14(–16) 2019. Range: — Colombia to Bolivia (LP), French Guiana, Brazil; possibly Venezuela. Ecology: —Locally common; terrestrial, twining climber, 800—1650 m. Notes: — Cárdenas et al. (2019) recognized four subspecies of Salpichlaena volubilis: subsp. amazonica; subsp. crenata G.G.Cárdenas & Tuomisto; subsp. thallasica (Grayum & R.C.Moran) G.G.Cárdenas & Tuomisto (Nicaragua to Panama, Colombia and Ecuador); and subsp. volubilis (restricted to the Atlantic Rain Forest in eastern and southeastern Brazil). Cárdenas et al. (2019) cited two collections from Bolivia, we have seen six others.
