
Jean Charles Borda, connu comme savant physicien, mathématicien et marin est l'un des pères du système métrique. Ce monument en pierre, situé au milieu de la place Thiers à Dax, a été inauguré le 31 août 1947 par le Vice Amiral Lemonnier, en présence de Paul Puyo, Maire de Dax. Il remplace la statue en bronze qui avait été réalisée par Paul Aubé (1837-1916) et inaugurée le 21 mai 1891 par le président de la République Sadi Carnot, en présence de Raphaël Millies-Lacroix, Maire de Dax. La statue d'origine avait été enlevée et détruite en 1942, sous l'occupation allemande. La hauteur totale (socle compris) du monument est d'environ 4 m. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
