Abstract

The study investigated how people's experience at the university school and in their daily life practices have influenced their reading formation. A mixed-method investigation was carried out with 200 young participants, involving Mexican university and non-university students. The research followed the theoretical concepts of Ingarden, Vygotsky, Gadamer, Saur, and other authors with recent investigations. The information collected was processed with the software SPSS v25 and NVIVO 12 Pro. The quantitative and qualitative findings indicated the importance of the university school as a mediating experience in the formation of readers, in preferences for literary texts, and as a subjective activity. Also, it was observed, as a daily fact, the generalization of reading practices on social networks and digital media. It is considered relevant to do more research on reading experience as a subjective activity inherent to the subjects, their contexts and experiences, as dynamic as them and their realities.
