Globalization of wild capture and farmed aquatic foods

Abstract

Overview This archive includes all input data and code to reproduce all results in Gephart et al. (2024) Globalization of wild capture and farmed aquatic foods, Nature Communications. The full Aquatic Resource Trade in Species (ARTIS) database, which underlies the figure and results data files in this archive, is available on KNB (doi:10.5063/F1CZ35N7). The input data and code base underlying ARTIS is also available on KNB (doi:10.5063/F1862DXT). Description of file structure: All data files to reproduce the figures and results are located in the “manuscript_inputs” folder. All files starting with “fig” or “si_fig” in their filename refer to input data files for the figures created in the manuscript, for example “fig1a_data.csv” refers to the data file used to create figure 1a in the manuscript. All other files refer to input files used to create the data summaries that appear in the results text of the manuscript. Note: For table descriptions for the results please refer to the markdown files located in the linked GitHub repository. Table Descriptions: Figure 1 tables: Increases in global export of aquatic foods. a) Exports of global marine and freshwater aquaculture and fishery products (in million t, live weight equivalent) from 1996-2020. Year: 1996-2020 Habitat_method: Production habitat and method of the exported goods Live_weight_t: Seafood exports, live weight equivalents (tonnes) b) Percent of global marine and freshwater aquaculture and fishery production exported, excluding re-exports.
