A study was conducted in a test room (3x5m) equipped with energy efficient luminaires suspended from the ceiling, a work station and an external reflecting solar shading device. From the work station the occupant could control the illuminance level of the luminaire and the tilt of the lamellas. The solar shading device raises the daylight level in the back of the room by reflecting glass lamellas that directs the light to the ceiling. The objective of the experiment was to investigate the energy savings for artificial lighting by using individual control of luminaire and solar shading. 10 persons participated in the study. During the experiment the occupant had to carry out office tasks at the work station. In the first period of the experiment the occupant could not control either the lighting level or the tilt of the lamellas, whereas it in the second period was possible for the occupant to control the lighting level and the tilt of the lamellas. The energy consumption for lighting was measured for each period. Results and analysis will be presented in the paper.
