Literackie okruchy religijnych peregrynacji Brytyjczyków w Polsce (do początków XVIII wieku)

Abstract

Rozprawa stanowi omówienie literackich owoców podróży Brytyjczyków w Polsce (od 16 w. do panowania Augusta II Sasa). Analiza i interpretacja omówionych tekstów ukazuje zmieniający się w czasie obraz Rzeczypospolitej jako „państwa bez stosów”. Utwory te to świadectwa stopniowej ewolucji tej obiegowej opinii – od akcentowanych przez podróżników przejawów tolerancji religijnej po oznaki nietolerancji i prześladowań, będące głównie wynikiem kontrreformacji oraz rosnących w Polsce wpływów papiestwa i zakonu jezuitów.
