Abstract The genus Craniotus LeConte is revised. The genus includes Craniotus pubescens LeConte and the following new species: Craniotus mardecortesi Aalbu, Smith, and Sanchez Pinero (Isla San Esteban, Baja California, Mexico) and Craniotus triplehorni Aalbu, Smith, and Sanchez Pinero (Gulf Islands and Baja California, Mexico). Craniotus blaisdelli Tanner is placed as a synonym of C. pubescens. This form corresponds to northern populations of C. pubescens. A key to the species is provided. The distribution and biology of the genus are briefly discussed.
