Charging electric vehicles (EVs) within parkinginfrastructures with a small number of charging spots is aproblem that needs addressing in order to facilitate the wideadoption of EVs. Fairness and efficiency during the chargingprocess are two important parameter that are examined in thiswork for this specific use case. The α-fair and fair-enoughapproaches are utilized, demonstrating that for the EV chargingscenario considered the fair-enough approach is better applicablefor practical applications, as it does not have the computationalcomplexity of the α-fair scheme by achieving the fairest energyresource allocation possible prior to the system efficiency startsdegrading. Specifically, it is demonstrated that the fair-enoughscheme approximates the α-fair allocation, while also reducingprocessing time by up to 94%.
