Abstract Coordination polymers and organic–inorganic hybrid materials represent an area of very active research. Halide-bridged polymers of divalent transition or post-transition metals coordinated to donor ligands are reviewed. The article is organized according to structural features of the compounds: the main sections of chain polymers, crosslinked systems and networks of high metal-halide content are subdivided according to connectivity aspects. Structural trends are highlighted and the correlation between chemical composition and topology on the one hand and derived properties and dynamics on the other hand is discussed.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 93 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 1% |
