A new Brazilian species of Harpasus Mulsant (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae, Chilocorinae), a predator of Tinocallis kahawaluokalani (Kirkaldy) (Hemiptera, Aphididae)
A new Brazilian species, Harpasus aureus Almeida & Carvalho sp.n. (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae, Chilocorinae) is described and illustrated (type locality: Curitiba, Paraná State, Brazil). Variations within the genera Harpasus and Curinus are discussed. Some biological aspects of the species are provided and its potential as a biological control agent of Tinocallis kahawaluokalani (Kirkaldy) (Hemiptera, Aphididae) on Lagerstroemia indica L. (Lythraceae) is considered.
