Abstract

FIGURE 4. Comparisons of the first antennae in a selection of Euconchoecia and Bathyconchoecia and Scottoecia species (and frontal organs in Euconchoecia species): A. Euconchoecia chierchiae ♀.B. Euconchoecia aff. elongata ♂ (Celebes Sea). C. Euconchoecia pacifica ♀ (Japan Sea). D. Bathyconchoecia paulula ♂ from Deevey 1986, fig. 1a. E. Bathyconchoecia sagittarius ♀ from Angel 1973, fig. 1A. F. Scottoecia darcythompsoni ♂ from Angel 2012, fig. 5D. Scales are in millimetres. The main differences (as indicated by the arrows in 1A) are: 1. The absence of a frontal organ in Bathyconchoecia; 2. The length of the dorsal seta; 3. The lengths of the pad setae.
