Use of metallurgical slags in the technology of dolomite refractories

Abstract

The elemental and mineral compositions of slags of blast-furnace, open-hearth, and electrosmelting production at some enterprises are analyzed. Laboratory development of a technology of stabilized dolomite refractories using 40 – 45% metallurgical slags is carried out. A high-quality product is attained by using open-hearth slags and slags from electrosmelting of alloyed steels. The quality parameters of the stabilized dolomite articles make them an alternative to chromite-periclase articles.
