Die Grellingsche Paradoxie und ihre exakte Lösung

Abstract

Summary Teh Grelling antionmy of the word “heterological” is solved by means of an exact procedure of denotation 1) by making a distinction between the word “heterological” and the heterological word. And 2) we form the set of all the heterological words, which defines the concept of the heterological. 3) We show that the word “heterological” belongs to a higher level of the hierarchy of the signs than the heterological words, and is therefore translogical. Hereby we shall avoid to consider the set of the heterological words as a heterological word. The hierarchy of the signs is based on the intransitive relation of denotation. The autological word belongs to the set which it de notes. The autological words belong only into the first level of the hierarchy.
