The dataset contains about 2000 accessions of several species of Hordeum (barley) from the Mediterranean Germplasm seed bank in Bari (Italy). Seeds have been collected by the personnel of CNR-IBBR throughout the Mediterranean Basin (Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, etc.), middle East (Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, etc.), and Eastern Africa (Ethiopia), but also provenances from Asia (India, Nepal, etc.) are included. Seeds are maintained in sealed cans at -20 °C (long-term storage) and paper bags at 4 °C (short-term storage), and periodically checked for germination and refreshed. Seed lots are available upon request at https://ibbr.cnr.it/mgd/ or by contacting mgd.staff@ibbr.cnr.it.
