In teaching physical examination as part of our medical training, we have recently started using a digital stethoscope that is connected to external speakers. The use of speakers enables students to listen to auscultation in real-time. This facilitates the direct interpretation, explanation and discussion of auscultatory findings. We expect that this interactive method of teaching will improve the auscultatory skills of students.
