Identidad social y reciprocidad: itinerarios hacia el etnodesarrollo. Los casos de Chavarrillo (México) y Etxauri (España)

Abstract

En esta investigación se propone una modificación del planteamiento teórico y metodológico sobre el etnodesarrollo elaborado por Bonfil Batalla, poniendo el acento en la identidad social, como elemento que refuerza los modelos de integración económica propuestos por Mauss y Polanyi, que giran siempre sobre el papel emergente de la reciprocidad en sus diferentes manifestaciones institucionales. La reciprocidad es entendida como un recurso cultural dinámico que ayuda a superar las carencias y retos del Estado de bienestar. Desde esta perspectiva en Chavarrillo, una comunidad de Estado de Veracruz, se analizan las tensiones internas y externas que provienen de la pugna por el acceso a los recursos y a la toma de decisiones, y que generan desigualdades en todos los ámbitos dentro de los ejidos. En este contexto, las carencias del Estado de bienestar son superadas mediante mecanismos recíprocos y redistributivos. Mientras en Chavarrillo encontramos una reciprocidad en sentido clásico, es decir, desigualitarias, en Etxauri se trata de la reciprocidad en sentido posmoderno o equitativa, pero con un horizonte a alcanzar. Conceptos clásicos de la antropología como la reciprocidad, que parecían haberse quedado limitados surgen con nuevas significaciones.
