Abstract

[eng] Currently in the northern coast of Peru, channels built by the Mochicas, more than a thousand years ago, are still working. Impressive feats of engineering interconnect various river valleys, watering a few desert territories of one of the most arid regions of the world. Access to new crop land was the starting point of a civilization that, from obtaining abundants harvest, was stratified socially. All of this allowed that some members of society does not have to produce food, and began a process of specialization that led to the development of the Moche civilization. Today, Mochicas channels continue to provide to the peruvian people the possibility of obtaining more abundant harvests, better pasture for cattle raising and, consequently, better living conditions for its inhabitants. This work seeks to highlight the Moche civilization in general, especially highlighting their advances in agricultural technology and engineering Works.
