Abstract

The following essay consists of an state of the issues regarding the question of an outstanding historical fact in our Catalan History., the question of the “Segadors War”, which began in 1640. This Essay does not cener neither on the war in itself nor in its consequences. In fact we pretend to know in depth not only the facts that took place in 1640 but the political ideas brought about by this political situation. This essay also tries to find what the social and political revolition had in common and in what aspects they differed each other. It also offers a suggestive outlook on the process of formation of the Catalan Nation. If we really can say that at that moment. This process has nothing in common with the present one. And we attach an special importance to the Catalan clergy who was, somehow or other, involved in these political events. Their political and social behaviour was praised by a large part of the Catalan Society, as it happened in other historical events such the Succession War.
