L'attenzione estetica

Abstract

È meglio dirlo subito: l’esperienza estetica e ancor più l’esperienza artistica – la fruizione di oggetti che consideriamo, sotto diversi aspetti, opere d’arte – non è il risultato di una forma particolare di attenzione, di una modalità specifica della coscienza attenta o degli organi di senso dominati dall’attenzione. Parlare di attenzione estetica farebbe immediatamente pensare a questo: alla dipendenza di queste due classi di esperienze dall’attenzione. Purtroppo, non è così. O meglio, non è sufficiente considerare solo l’attenzione, anche in una sua forma “speciale” che definiremo “estetica” e che ricomprende in sé una forma di interesse anch’esso estetico, per dare conto di questo tipo di esperienza nella sua totalità. Che però attraverso uno studio sistematico di certi fenomeni attenzionali si possano descrivere aspetti anche importanti della nostra relazione sensibile al mondo e agli oggetti artistici che in esso incontriamo, questo è un altro problema, un problema diverso, un problema difficile. Di questo tratta questo libro.
