L'aes di Viminacium

Abstract

Between 239/240 and 254/255, the colony of Viminacium produced sestertii, dupondii and asses: the XRF analysis of a sample of 33 coins, conserved in the numismatic collection of the University of Milan, has made it possible – albeit in a preliminary way – to define the original composition of the metal alloy and to assess possible intentional variations in it over time.
