Eretiche ed eretici medievali : La «disobbedienza» religiosa nei secoli XII-XV

Abstract

Nel medioevo nessuno si è mai definito eretica o eretico. Eresia significa “scelta”: infatti, l’eretico medievale è un disobbediente rispetto al conformismo religioso, sceglie di seguire il Vangelo e propone l’insegnamento della parola di Gesù. Il non conformismo religioso abbracciato da donne e uomini è alla base di un libertario “moto di cultura”, un dinamismo evangelico condannato e perseguitato. La “scelta” ereticale nel medioevo è anche una rivoluzione culturale che coinvolge chierici, uomini e donne, laiche e laici di strati sociali diversi: accanto ai più noti Bogomil, Arnaldo da Brescia, Valdo di Lione, Dolcino da Novara, John Wyclif, Jan Hus, ai valdesi, i catari, i templari, i lollardi e gli hussiti, emergono numerose figure femminili, quali Guglielma, Margherita detta Porète, Margherita detta “la bella”, Giovanna d’Arco, le apostole e le beghine. L’attenzione posta dal volume all’identità nel medioevo, ma anche al riverbero nel xx secolo di termini metacronici – eresia/eretici – dimostra come le molteplici varianti della «disobbedienza religiosa» del passato continuano ad affascinare il presente e ad essere strumentalizzate.
