Abstract

El ensayo parte de la tesis de que este género literario (ensayo) plasma la conciencia lúcida de una época y es expresión de la conciencia de racionalidad lograda por una sociedad en un determinado momento. Lo anterior convierte al ensayo en documento histórico, en texto filosófico, en expresión ideológica. En Costa Rica, caso en relación, prevaleció el ensayo humanista para plasmar, en forma literaria, el pensamiento que nos permitió tomar conciencia de nuestra emancipación política y cultural. El ensayo reflfl eja la construcción de la identidad, civilidad y democracia costarricenses y aparece como lectura testimonial e ideológica de una época
