Il lavoro ricostruisce la biografia di Benedetto da Firenze, uno dei più noti abacisti del Quattrocento, con i relativi documenti dell'Archivio di Stato di Firenze. Riporta inoltre dettagliate informazioni sui maestri e sulle scuole d'abaco di Firenze del Medioevo e del Rinascimento.
