Abstract

A partire dall'epoca ottomana fino ai giorni nostri, l'architettura hafside ifriqiyana ha subito importanti trasformazione sia dal punto di vista strutturale, sia da quello stilistico formale. In molti casi, gli interventi di rifacimento hanno cancellato completamente l'alzato degli edifici originali, dei quali rimangono solo sporadiche porzioni murarie o l'impianto tipologico. In altri casi, invece, si è mantenuto intatto l'apparato decorativo, che tuttavia porta le tracce delle sostanziali modifiche susseguitesi. Dalla consapevolezza di questo stato di fatto prende le mosse la scelta degli esempi architettonici presentati in questo saggio. si tratta di monumenti particolarmente rappresentativi della medina di Tunisi, capitale degli hafsidi, e di altri centri urbani importanti quali Kairuan, Monastir e Sfax.
