Post-colonial contexts find Archaeology directly involved in the expansion of global capital, and the practice of this discipline has ceased from being merely oriented towards the obtainment of knowledge. Globalization makes available Archaeology, its narratives and materialities, within trajectories upon which the discipline seem to have little or no control. I characterize the archaeological discipline, as well as the changes operated upon it in the post-colonial contexts. The border, the epistemic and socio-historical territory in which the post-colonial conflicts are produced, defines both the modern Western imagination and its creative externality; but, far from being a mere objective area, the border appears to be a contradictory territory constitutive of the colonial subjectivity – also of those practising Archaeology. After describing the anatomy of the border, I admit the implications of considering the border archaeology; in that sense, I suggest the foundations and orientations for undisciplining Archaeology.
