Pourquoi analyser vos fourrages?

Abstract

L'analyse de la composition chimique des fourrages est une étape clé à réaliser de manière régulière. Bien qu’il existe dans la littérature un grand nombre de valeurs de référence auxquelles l’agriculteur pourrait faire appel pour calculer ses rations hivernales, la valeur nutritive des produits fourragers et plus spécifiquement de l'herbe n'est pas constante. Elle varie en fonction du type de sol, de la composition floristique et de la gestion de la prairie mais elle évolue également au cours de la saison. Les facteurs de variation qui interviennent à différents stades de la production et de la conservation sont si nombreux qu’il est impossible de prévoir la valeur nutritive sans une détermination des composants essentiels. En se basant sur des valeurs moyennes, il y a un risque soit de surestimer la qualité des fourrages et de ne pas couvrir les besoins des animaux, soit au contraire de la sous-estimer et de gaspille
