We present the results of anthracological, dendrological and taphonomic analyses of 80 archaeological structures (enclosures, cottages, charcoal kilns, furnaces, etc) from three valleys in the Eastern Pyrenees corresponding to the Late Holocene. The results show that pine represents 90% of the total record analysed, in great contrast to the minimal percentages of other taxa. These results suggest that the vegetation is similar to present vegetation, although it has undergone changes, due to either climate-related or anthropical reasons. Regarding the use of wood, its selection was based on morphological characteristics and health of the raw material, which varied dramatically according to its main use.
