Carga mental en vigilantes de seguridad: diferencias por sexo y capacidad atencional

Abstract

El objetivo principal de esta investigación es analizar los efectos del sexo y la capacidad atencional, de una muestra de 101 vigilantes de seguridad privada, sobre la carga mental subjetiva de su puesto de trabajo. Para evaluar la carga mental se utilizó el procedimiento subjetivo NASA-TLX y para evaluar la capacidad atencional se diseñó una prueba que requería la realización de dos tipos de tareas: la tarea de memoria de Sternberg y una tarea de seguimiento o tracking. Solamente el rendimiento en la tarea más difícil objetivamente fue utilizado como medida de la capacidad atencional de los individuos. En general, los resultados muestran que los vigilantes de seguridad sienten niveles de carga mental medio-altos. En cuanto al sexo, las mujeres perciben niveles de carga mental más altos que los hombres, especialmente por una mayor estimación de la demanda física, el esfuerzo y la demanda temporal. En cuanto a la capacidad atencional, no se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas, aunque los sujetos de menor capacidad dieron evaluaciones más elevadas de carga mental, especialmente en cuanto a la demanda física. Por último, no se encontraron relaciones significativas entre el sexo y la capacidad atencional.
