Abstract

Paul Vieille (1922-2010), directeur de recherche au CNRS de 1975 à 1988, puis professeur à l’université d’Illinois (1988-2003), fondateur de la revue Peuples Méditerranéens, a joué un rôle majeur dans les études sur les sociétés de la Méditerranée et de l’Iran. Ce colloque cherchera à préciser : son rôle dans la création et les travaux d’institutions académiques (revue Peuples Méditerranéens, Laboratoire CHRYSEIS du CNRS, etc.) et son apport scientifique (mouvements sociaux, sociologie urbaine, globalisation, mondialisation, etc) ; la diffusion de son héritage scientifique dans les débats actuels sur les sociétés de la Méditerranée et du monde musulman, dans les méthodes et concepts de la socio-anthropologie.
