Abstract

Cette dernière décennie, l’Europe a été inondée d’images montrant les migrants africains prenant des risques extrêmes pour pénétrer la forteresse Europe sans que les représentations binaires de l’altérité ne soient véritablement transformées. On peut se demander inversement comment les Africains se représentent eux-mêmes l’ailleurs, les lieux et les conditions de leur migration. Articulés à des mondes imaginés, les déplacements dans l’espace sont aussi des franchissements de démarcations culturelles qu’il convient d’explorer encore davantage. A la mondialisation économique se superpose une globalisation des rêves, enjoignant les chercheurs à interroger sous un autre jour les imaginaires migratoires. Comment les images diffusées par les médias mondialisées ou par des migrants de retour s’entremêlent-elles à d’autres, puisées dans des histoires régionales, des mythes et des croyances plus ou moins anciennes, pour donner sens et consistance à leurs désirs de partir ou de rentrer, d’une part, mais aussi pour mieux supporter la peur, l’exil et se donner la force de dépasser les obstacles rencontrés en chemin, d’autre part ?
