Abstract

ABSTRACT: In Muelle Barco, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, we artificially fertilized the Orestias luteus eggs. Later, these eggs were incubated in the IMARPE’s Continental Laboratory of Puno, in Chasse-type incubators with a continuous water flow of 0.5 L/sec. at a mean temperature of 15 °C. Hatching started after 20 days and lasted three days. The larvae were confined in 0.115 m3 glass aquariums. A total of 600 fry were placed on a glass aquarium measuring 50 x 40 x 40 cm, with permanent aeration. They underwent experimental growth for 240 days. Live food (Chlorella vulgaris, Artemia salina, and Daphnia pulex) was provided ad libitum for culture maintenance. The largest fish size obtained was 32 mm ± 0.16 with a weight of 0.3678 g ± 0.167. The biological condition index was found between 1.0 and 1.4 and the specific growth rate (SGR) between 1.0 and 1.4%. The mean temperature of the culture water ranged between 12.3 and 15.3 ° C.
