ABSTRAC: The biological population survey of black ark Anadara tuberculosa and brown ark Anadara similis in the mangroves of Tumbes was carried out in September 2018. A total of 93 stations were established, with 19 tidal channels and 10 islands being assessed. The mean density in A. tuberculosa and A. similis was 1.0 and 0.3 ind.m-2, respectively; their mean biomass was 17.4 g.m-2 and 4.6 g.m-2, respectively. The mean valve length (VL) of black ark and brown ark was 37.3 and 38.9 mm, respectively. The commercial sizes (≥45 mm VL) represented 18.0 and 32.3% of the total individuals analyzed in A. tuberculosa and A. similis, respectively. The sex ratio of both species showed significant differences favoring the females. Both developing females and males in black ark and developed specimens in brown ark predominated. The associated macrofauna was represented by six species of bivalves and one gastropod, with the predominance of clam Leukoma asperrima (Sowerby, 1835) with higher density (0.6 ind.m-2) and mean biomass (9.6 g.m-2), ribbed mussel Mytella guyanensis (Lamarck, 1819), corbula (Corbula sp.), and the gastropod crepidula (Crepidula sp.). Water temperature values ranged from 23.7 to 25.3 °C, pH from 7.41 to 7.83, dissolved oxygen from 1.47 to 4.71 ml.L-1, and salinity from 24.41 to 37.22 psu.
