Abstract

The human being faces different situations, often complex, in which skills are required. They are called personal resources to help with the moment and get the best of it. From psychology, these resources are studied and nostalgia has been identified as one of them. Nowadays, research allows us to appreciate the benefits of nostalgia with motivating characteristics, especially in moments of loneliness or sadness. In addition, they contribute to personal development and strengthening ties. Although nostalgia has always been a concept related to mental health, it has undergone multiple changes in meaning, popularizing a negative perception of emotion and more widespread than the benefits mentioned. Therefore, this study compiles the scattered and inaccessible information on the subject from another perspective. Verifying the progress of nostalgia as a personal resource based on eleven articles published, it offered a theoretical report regarding the current conceptualisation and social report as various proposals. This is considered useful for the study and future intervention for the well-being of people.
