According to foundation records, Tas Mescit, known as the first Islam temple before Ottoman era in Sebinkarahisar, was founded by a benevolent man KebfuniyeliMehmed bin Abdullah, in 1418 under the rule of Melik Hasan Bey, son of Melik Ahmed Bey from Behramsah family. Due to settling policy, reconstruction activities around Tas Mescit, revealed a separate settling area, called by the name Mahalle-i Ta Mescid in Ottoman period. Moreover, a number of properties gathered from inside the town and the villages around were made over to the mosque for its expenses. However, several false and lacking definitions have been given by the publishers to date about this little structure with an important mission considering only little information which is not based on archived data. There is a great number of data about the mosque on several different archived materials ranging from a shatter of a waqf from 1418 to the title deed transactions in 1940. This valuable information bluntly sheds light on the historical journey of this mosque. This small sized and square construction sets a unique example to mosque architecture especially with its cradle pendentive integumentary system. With it s this feature and location in historical Sebinkarahisar topography, we assert that the mosque is not a separate building, but a construction belonging to a hermitage. Being damaged during the Armenian events in 1915 and by the earthquake in 1939, the construction reached the present day as debris following the downfall of integumentary system in 1988. We have also identified that in this period the quadrilateral shaped stones used as a covering material on the west wall were dismantled and transferred to other structures around, and the residual parts from its mihrab were used in the construction of Muftu Mosque. Being one of few Islam constructions remained from the era before Ottoman around Giresun neighborhood, Tas Mescit s journey, its architectural design and restitution trial on its unique shape have composed the subject of this article
