L'obiettivo di questa tesi è introdurre la teoria geometrica degli invarianti, la quale permette di costruire quozienti per azioni di gruppi algebrici su varietà. Il punto centrale è il Teorema di Nagata, che afferma che data un'azione razionale di un gruppo riduttivo su una k-algebra finitamente generata, allora la sottoalgebra degli invarianti è anch'essa finitamente generata. Viene studiato nel dettaglio il problema di classificazione delle ipersuperfici di grado d nello spazio proiettivo n-dimensionale, presentando i risultati generali noti e attenzionando alcuni casi particolari: le quadriche, le forme binarie di grado d, le cubiche e le quartiche piane, e infine le superfici cubiche.
