Bu tez çağdaş dönemde ?The Message Of The Qur'an? adlı meal- tefsiriyle dikkat çeken Muhammed Esed'in (1900-1992) Kur'an ile ilgili temel konu ve kavramlara yaptığı sembolik ve tarih-üstü yorumları ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir. Ayrıca biz bu çalışmada, modern bir bakış açısıyla oluşan Kur'an anlayışının, Esed özelinde nasıl ve ne şekilde kendisini gösterdiği tesbit etmeye çalıştık.Bu tez bir giriş ve iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde, araştırmanın konusu, önemi, amacı ve yöntemine değindik. Ayrıca Esed'in meal- tefsirinin genel özelliklerine, onun Kur'an, tercüme ve tefsir ile ilgili görüşlerine işaret ettik.Birinci bölümde Muhammed Esed'in meal- tefsirinde ayetleri yorumlama tarzı ve bu yorumlama tarzının ayetlere nasıl uygulandığını örneklerle göstermeye çalıştık. Özellikle Esed'in çeşitli sözlüklerden de yararlanarak kelime ve kavramlara getirdiği anlamlar üzerinde durduk. Ayrıca klasik müfessirlerle Esed'in yorumlarını mukayese ederek onun farklı olan yönlerine dikkat çektik.İkinci bölümde ise, Muhammed Esed'in ?The Message Of The Qur'an? adlı eserindeki sembolik ve tarih-üstü yorumlarını ortaya koyduk. Bu noktada, Esed'in ahiret ile ilgili kavram ve tasvirlere, toplumsal hayatla ilgili düzenlemelere, Kur'an'da yer alan İslam dininin temel bazı kavramlarına, Kur'an'da yer alan kıssa ve mucizelere getirmiş olduğu farklı yaklaşım, yorum ve düşüncelerini ortaya koymaya çalıştık. This dissertation aimed at ascertaining and examining Muhammed Esed?s (1900-1992), who is famous of his ?The Message of The Qur?an? on interpretation (tefsir) and meaning (meal), symbolic and transhistorical interpretations about basic subjects and terms of Qur?an. In addition, in this work we aimed to ascertain how modern understanding of Qur?an appeared in Esed?s case.This dissertation consists of an introduction and two chapters. In the introduction we mentioned subject, importance, intention and method of the research. In addition, we touched on the general characteristics of Esed?s meaning (meal)-interpretation, his general views about Qur?an, translation and interpretation.In the first chapter, we tried to ascertain Muhammed Esed?s commenting style of verses in his meaning (meal)- interpretation (tefsir) and how was this method applied to verses of The Qur?an by examples. Especially, we focused on new meanings, which Esed ascribed to words and terms using various dictionaries. Moreover, we compared Esed?s comments with classical interpretators comments and attracted attention to his different views.In the second chapter, we escertained Muhammed Esed?s symbolic and transhistorical comments in his ?The Message of The Qur?an?. At this point, we tried to escertain Esed?s different approaches, comments and views on the terms and descriptions about hereafter, regulations on social life, basic terms of Islam, stories of Qur?an (kıssa) and miracles. While doing this, we tried to evaluate Esed?s consistency with his principles in the interpretation of Qur?an.Key Words: Muhammed Esed, symbolic, trans-historical, comment, miracle.
