Abstract

Proverbsare concise words that express the attitudes, behaviors, and thoughts ofsocieties in relation to life. It reflects their experience and way of life. Ithas an important place in the cultures of the societies and is the elements ofwisdom. In this study, the elements of wisdom about environment-nature andenvironmental education in proverbs related to water have been discussed. Inthis study, qualitative research method was used. Data collection inqualitative research is often preferred as a means of document analysistechniques were utilized. It is also seen that the compiled proverbs are asstimulating as informative, instructive. For this reason, it can be said that the proverbs can be used inenvironmental education as much as they are in other branches.

Atasözleri,toplumların yaşam karşısındaki tutum, davranış ve düşüncelerini ifade eden özlüsözlerdir. Onların deneyim ve yaşam biçimlerini yansıtır. Toplumlarınkültürleri içerisinde önemli bir yere sahiptir ve bilgelik unsurlarıdır. Buyönüyle atasözlerinin kapsamı çok geniştir. Buçalışmada, “suyla ilgili atasözlerindeki çevre-doğa ve çevre eğitimine yönelikbilgelik unsurları” ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemikullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak nitel araştırmalarda sıklıkla tercihedilen doküman incelemesi tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Derlenen atasözlerininbilgilendirici, öğretici olduğu kadar uyarıcı olduğu da görülmektedir. Bunedenle atasözlerinin diğer branşlarda olduğu kadar, çevre eğitiminde de dekullanılabileceği söylenebilir.
