Türkiye` de yaşayan Nogay Türkleri`nin nogay çay tüketimi, beslenme ve sağlık üzerine etkisi

Abstract

Our research was carried out between June- September 2018 in Şereflikoçhisar region of Ankara in order to determine the nutrition and physical activities of Nogai's to evaluate the health effects of Nogai tea consumption and other obtained data. Our study has been applied to 45 people in three different villages where Nogai people live in majority. Food Frequency Questionnaire (AFFQ) was used to determine eating habits. All food and beverage consumed by the participants in the last 24 hours were asked in detail `24-hour Dietary Recall` record was taken. All data were recorded by the researcher. The study consisted of 33 (75%) female and 11 (25%) male participants. Compared with Turkey in general, BMI values were lower in male and female participants. In the male group, Nogai tea consuming participants were higher than females. Protein (20%) and fat (47%) consumption were found to be higher in participants with high Nogai tea consumption. According to WHO, low intake was determined as; carbohydrate, fiber, vitamin E, vitamin C, folate and calcium. The intake was over-determined; fat, cholesterol (especially in women) and sodium. Compared with Turkey in general, Nogai eating habits are very different therefore, a more comprehensive study is needed for the nutritional behavior and physical activity of the Nogais.
